I really enjoy living in Germany . . . the beer, the pretzels, the national health care system. It is well known, however, that expatriats often experience a variety of reactions to living in a foregin country. There are days (weeks, months) where everything is great--the weather is perfect, the castles are romantic and the strudel couldn't be better.

And then there are the days when you discover your landlady keeps one of these in her basement:
